The Limits of
Gratitude
I read it in the newspaper coverage of
the trial. That they'd all stood up and tried to plead guilty when they saw the
prosecution looking to pin Morrison's murder on me.
I'd just stared at the paper. They did that for me. That's how much they... Well
of course they'd changed their pleas back to not guilty. I guess their lawyer
had a chat.
The prosecutor never did nail me, but he nailed the guys.
So now I have to fix it. It will be dangerous. Getting killed dangerous, for me
and anyone I take along. I already know I'm prepared for the first. But the
second? I've got someone in mind. Brave and dumb enough to come along on this
insane little adventure. But do I risk his life, to repay the guys for being
prepared to give up their lives to save mine?
I've got a headache.
