Yes, I
shop for clothes more than most women do. So? How many times have I
had to leave behind my whole wardrobe in a "compromised"
location? I'd bet money there's MPs wearing my confiscated
clothes.
So I keep on shopping. Some of us are not content to
wear the same outfit every day. And some of us remember what it was
like never to have new clothes, only hand-me-downs that were
cast-offs to start with.
The sisters did their best. Patches
but never holes. And we were allowed our 'own' clothes; no morning
free-for-all. But I was always aware they were not really my clothes.
Some kind family had donated them to the poor orphans, while their
kids got brand new clothes.
I started a paper route when I was
fourteen. I didn't buy candy or baseball cards. I saved up and bought
a pair of jeans. New. Mine.
